Mohanraj Flower Stall

Down in Jayanagar East, specifically over at 1208 on the 26th Main in the 9th Block, you’ll find where we set things up. Being on the 41st Cross means we see a lot of people walking by on their way to the market or just heading out for a stroll. The mornings are usually the busiest time for us. Everything starts while it’s still dark outside because that’s when the fresh stock arrives. The smell of the flowers is quite strong in the early hours before the city smells take over. It’s a small stall, really just enough room to move around and arrange things. We spend a lot of time trimming stems and making sure everything looks decent enough for the customers. Jayanagar is a nice area with lots of trees, so it feels a bit cooler here than in other parts of the city. We’ve got our regular customers who come every week, mostly families from the surrounding blocks who need something for their homes or for a small ceremony. Sometimes the rain catches us off guard and we have to pull everything back under the small roof quickly. It’s a simple life, working with your hands and dealing with the neighbors every day. The stone floor stays damp most of the time from the water we use to keep things fresh. It’s just how a flower stall goes.
