Our shop is located at No. 1315 on Masjid Road, right in the Fort area of Channapatna Town. If you know the Ramanagaram District, you probably know Channapatna for its history and the busy streets. We are right in the thick of it here. The road is often crowded with people going to the masjid or heading into the center of town. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time now. Our daily life is pretty much tied to the rhythm of Masjid Road. We open up the shutters every morning and start setting things up. It’s a modest space, not like those big showrooms you see in the city. We have our tools and our materials spread out where we can reach them. Working in Channapatna means being part of a community where everyone knows everyone else. We see the same neighbors every day and say our hellos. There’s a lot of manual work involved in what we do. It’s not always clean or quiet, but it’s what we know. Sometimes we have to step out onto the street to move things around because the shop gets full. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just try to finish what we started that morning. By the time the sun goes down and the calls to prayer start, we are usually winding down and getting ready to do it all again tomorrow.
