Down at Cottonpet, right by Khadia Char Rasta 7, you’ll find our place. Milan Marriage Bureau & Real Estate is a bit of a mix. We handle both people looking for homes and people looking for life partners. It sounds like a lot, and honestly, it is. The office is small and usually has a few people standing around because we ran out of chairs. There are files for properties on one side and files for marriage matches on the other. It gets a bit chaotic when someone comes in to talk about a flat while another person is showing us photos of their daughter. The walls are covered in maps of the local area and a few calendars that are probably out of date. Cottonpet is a very busy part of town, so there is always noise coming in from the street—horns, vendors, the whole lot. We have an old ceiling fan that clicks rhythmically, which we don't even notice anymore. It is just me and a couple of others here most days. We drink a lot of water because it gets stuffy in the afternoons. People from the neighborhood know us, and they just walk in without calling first. We don't mind. It’s just how things work at Char Rasta. We keep the registers open and try to help whoever walks through the door with whatever they need that day.
