Megamart

Our store is at number 60 in Sector-14 of Basavanagudi. It’s a decent-sized space, but we pack a lot into it. We have aisles full of stuff, from snacks to soap and everything else people need for their houses. It gets a bit cramped when the delivery guys bring in new crates on Tuesday mornings. We usually have to shuffle things around just to make a path. The floor is that old tile that’s seen better days, but it’s clean enough. We know most of the people who come in because they live just a few blocks away. My brother runs the counter mostly, and I’m usually in the back checking the stock or trying to fix a leaky fridge. We don’t have those self-checkout machines; we just talk to people while we bag their things up. The fluorescent lights overhead hum a little bit if it’s quiet, which isn't often. In the evenings, it gets pretty crowded with folks picking up something for dinner on their way home from work. We keep the doors open to let some air in since the cooling isn't always perfect. It’s a lot of work keeping the shelves full and the prices marked, but it’s what we do. We’ve been here in Basavanagudi for a while and don't plan on going anywhere. It’s just a regular shop for regular people.
