Meenakshi Steel And Cement has been operating out of 35 BTM Layout 2nd Stage for quite some time now. Being in Phase II of the GIDC Estate means there is always something happening around the yard. We mostly handle the basic stuff like bags of cement and different types of steel for local building work. It is not a glamorous job, to be honest. The yard gets quite dusty when the wind picks up, and there is usually a line of trucks waiting to load or unload something heavy. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that. It is just a practical space where we get the work done. Most of us here grew up nearby or have lived in the area long enough to know all the shortcuts through the layout. We see the same faces every week, mostly local contractors and guys doing their own home repairs. Sometimes the traffic near the estate gets a bit messy, but that is part of being in this part of town. We try to keep enough stock on hand so people don't have to wait too long. If we don't have something, we just say so. There is no point in making things sound better than they are. We just provide the materials and hope the buildings turn out okay. It’s a simple setup, really, and we prefer it that way. Just a local business trying to stay busy.
