Mayura Designs

We’re based in Bangalore, tucked away in the 560046 pincode area. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but it’s where we do all our design work. Mayura Designs isn't a huge studio with bright lights; it’s more of a practical space where we can actually get things done. We have rolls of cloth and sketches pinned up all over the place. The light in the morning is pretty good for seeing colors, which helps a lot. Bangalore weather is usually on our side, but when it rains, the sound on the roof is so loud we can barely hear each other. We spend hours looking at patterns and trying to get the lines right. It’s a lot of sitting and focused work. Sometimes we get stuck on a detail and have to take a walk outside just to clear our heads. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, which is nice for concentrating. We aren't trying to be the biggest name out there, just trying to make sure the designs we put out are something we’re okay with. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take our only real breaks. It’s just a few of us here, keeping the machines running and the pencils moving. We’ve been in this spot for a while and it feels like home now.
