Mathaji Departmental Stores

Mathaji Departmental Stores has been sitting here at Kathriguppe 43 for a long time. It is a typical neighborhood shop where the shelves are packed from the floor to the ceiling. We have a bit of everything, but things aren’t always perfectly lined up like you see in those big supermarkets. It gets really crowded in the mornings when everyone wants their milk and bread at the exact same time. We spend a lot of our day just restocking items and making sure we don’t run out of the basics that people need. Kathriguppe is a busy area, so there is always noise coming in from the street. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their names or at least their faces. The counter is usually covered in small change and lists that people bring in. It's a lot of work to keep track of all the inventory, especially when the delivery trucks show up and block the entrance. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure things don't get too chaotic. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to manage with torches for a bit. It’s just a normal life running a store in this part of town. We don’t have fancy displays, just the stuff people use every day in their houses.
