Maruti Provision Store

Maruti Provision Store is located at 85/C in Jayanagar 1st Block. We are right on the 4th Cross in the 1st Stage area. The shop is small and packed from the floor to the ceiling with all sorts of things. We have bags of rice stacked up near the entrance and rows of jars filled with snacks. It gets a bit narrow in the aisles when two people are trying to pass each other. We’ve been here for a long time and know most of the people who live on this street by their first names. The morning starts early for us because we have to take the milk delivery and arrange the fresh bread. It can be a bit tiring standing on your feet all day but we are used to it by now. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a little but it keeps the place cool enough. We don't have any fancy computers for billing, just a notepad and a calculator that has seen better days. Sometimes we run out of change and have to ask the neighbor for some coins. The rain usually blows into the front of the shop if we don't pull the shutter down halfway. It’s a neighborhood spot where people come for a few things and stay to talk about the weather or the local news. We just keep the shelves full and the door open for everyone. It is a basic life but we enjoy being part of the community.
