Maruthi Steel Wire

Maruthi Steel Wire is located at No. 29/B in Peenya Second Phase. If you’ve ever been to Peenya, you know how crowded it gets with all the small shops and big plants. We’ve got a modest space here where we deal with all sorts of steel wire. It’s usually pretty cramped inside because we try to keep a lot of stock on hand. You have to watch your step so you don’t trip over a coil. We have a few machines for straightening and cutting, and they make a lot of noise throughout the shift. The staff is mostly local guys who live nearby. We don't spend money on shiny signs or brochures. We just focus on the wire. Sometimes we get big orders that keep us working late into the night. Other days it’s quieter, and we spend time cleaning the machines and tidying up the scrap. We get a lot of walk-ins from the neighborhood looking for small quantities. We try to help them out even if it’s just a few kilos. It’s a lot of heavy work, and by the end of the day, everyone is tired. We keep a tally on the chalkboard of what's going out. It's not a high-tech operation, but we've been doing it this way for years and it hasn't failed us yet. Peenya is a tough place to work sometimes because of the heat, but we have a good fan in the corner.
