Maruthi General Stores

BTM Layout 41495 is always buzzing with students and people working in tech. Maruthi General Stores is right in the middle of all that noise. We keep a bit of everything here, from notebooks to snacks and washing soap. The shelves are packed so tight that sometimes things fall off if you aren't careful. We are busy from the moment we open the doors at seven in the morning. People are always in a hurry, grabbing a pen or a recharge card on their way to the bus stop. We have to keep an eye on the stock because things disappear fast in this neighborhood. My brother handles the billing while I fetch items from the higher shelves using a long stick. It’s a small space and the heat from the fridge makes it warm inside during the afternoons. We don’t have much room to move around behind the counter. Sometimes we forget to eat lunch until three or four because there are too many people waiting. We know most of the people who live in the PG hostels nearby. They come in for a chat or to ask for change. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the demands of the area but we’ve been doing it for years now. The floor gets muddy when it rains but we just sweep it out. The big fridge for the cold drinks hums very loudly and it makes the floor vibrate.
