Manoj Kids Cemp is down in the basement of Rajatha Complex. Chickpet is a very crowded place, as anyone who lives here knows. Our shop is at number 12. Being in the basement means it stays a bit cooler when the sun is out, but it can get quite packed when the market is busy. We’ve been here for a good while. People find us by looking for the Rajatha Complex sign and then heading down the stairs. It’s not a fancy showroom. We have stacks of things everywhere because space is tight in Chickpet. We just try to keep things moving. Most of our customers are locals who know the shortcuts through the alleys. We spend our days sorting through stock and talking to people who come down to see what we have. It’s a bit of a maze down here sometimes. We don't use any high-tech systems, just a pen and a notebook mostly. That is how we’ve always done it. The lighting isn't the brightest, but we know where everything is kept. It’s a family-run kind of thing. We don't really have a big staff, just us making sure everyone gets what they need. Sometimes the rain makes the entrance a bit slippery, so we have to watch out for that. It’s just a regular life in a busy market. We’re here every day except for the occasional holiday when the whole complex shuts down for a bit.
