Manjunatha Departmental Stores

We’ve been here on Vyalikaval 2nd Main Road for quite some time now. People usually just call it the corner shop at number 31. It gets a bit crowded inside sometimes, especially in the evenings when everyone is getting home from work. We try to keep everything from soap to rice in stock so nobody has to walk too far. The shelves are mostly full, maybe a little too full, but it’s how we manage. Sometimes the delivery guys leave boxes in the way and we have to move them around while customers are waiting. It’s just how things go here. My father started this and now we just keep it running. There isn’t much fancy stuff about it. We know most of the people who come in by their first names or at least what they usually buy. The fan in the back makes a bit of noise but we got used to it. The lights are a bit dim in the far corner where we keep the cleaning stuff. It’s a busy life but it keeps us going. We don’t really have a website or anything like that. Just the shop and the sidewalk where we keep the newspapers in the morning. If you’re looking for something specific, you might have to ask because things get moved around a lot. We just try to get the doors open by seven. Sometimes we close a bit late if someone knocks on the shutter after hours. It’s just how things work in this part of town.
