Our shop is at 97 Banaswadi Main Road, over in the Chikkakammanahalli Gottigere area. We are quite close to the Ayyappa Swamy Temple. You can usually hear the prayers and the bells from here, which is a nice background to the sound of sawing and sanding. We deal with all kinds of furniture. Most days, the front of the shop is crowded with sofas, tables, and chairs waiting to be picked up or delivered. We have a small workshop in the back where the real work happens. It’s always dusty with sawdust, no matter how much we clean. We use a lot of local wood and spend a lot of time getting the finish just right. It’s hard on the back, lifting heavy pieces of timber all day. We are a small team, mostly family and a couple of helpers who have been with us for years. We don’t have a big showroom with bright lights. What you see is what you get. If a customer wants something changed, we just talk about it right there on the shop floor. The traffic on Banaswadi Main Road is pretty heavy, so getting our delivery truck in and out can be a real headache. But we’ve lived in this area for a long time, so we are used to the chaos. It’s a simple life, making things that people will use in their homes for a long time. We keep the shop open until late because that is when people visit.
