Mamta Departmental Store

If you are in Bangalore near the Arakere area, you will find Mamta Departmental Store on B G Road. We are situated right opposite the Maraimma Temple, which is a very busy landmark. Because of the temple, there are always people around, especially on festival days or weekends. Our shop is a bit larger than a tiny corner store, so we call it a departmental store. We have more variety, like different types of rice, pulses, and even some basic plasticware for the kitchen. The traffic on B G Road is usually heavy, so there is a lot of dust and noise coming in through the open front. We spend a lot of time dusting the packets and bottles to keep them looking okay. The shop is a family-run place, and you will usually see one of us sitting at the billing desk near the entrance. We don't have any automatic doors or fancy air conditioning. We just use a few ceiling fans to keep the air moving. It gets very crowded in the evenings when people are returning from the temple or their offices. We have to move quickly to get everyone what they want. It is a tiring job, but we like being part of the Arakere neighborhood. We just focus on keeping the shelves full and making sure we have the items that the local families use every single day.
