Maharaja Steel Center

Out on Magadi Road, things are always moving fast and it is quite loud with all the buses. Our shop, Maharaja Steel Center, is located at Rajaji S Chawl, specifically at number 195. It’s a sturdy place, which is good because steel is heavy and can be a bit rough on the floors. We have been here for years, selling mostly kitchen items like large pots, tiffins, and plates that last a long time. My father started this place, and I took over when his back started giving him trouble. The walls are lined with stacks of stainless steel that catch the light when the sun hits them late in the afternoon. We don't have a lot of space for customers to sit, so they usually just stand by the counter and tell us what they need. Sometimes we have to go into the back room to dig out a specific size that someone wants. It gets dusty because of the construction nearby, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down. We don't bother with fancy displays or lights. If a pot is good, it sells itself because people around here know what is worth their money. On rainy days, the water puddles right in front of the step, so we have to put out a plank for people to walk on. It is just a regular local business that has stayed the same while the road outside has changed.
