Mahadeva Rice Stores

Mahadeva Rice Stores is over in Virgo Nagar, specifically at 45-78/21 near Bhattarahalli. It is a quiet enough area most of the time, though it gets busy when the delivery trucks try to squeeze into the lane. The shop is basically one large room filled with different types of rice. We spend a lot of time just moving bags from the warehouse area to the front where the customers can see them. The lights inside are a bit dim, but it stays cool enough because of the high ceiling. Sometimes the neighborhood kids run past and stir up the dust. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who handle everything from the cleaning to the heavy lifting. My back usually aches by the end of the day from all the bending over the sacks. We use a simple metal scoop to fill up the smaller bags when people don't want a whole fifty-kilo one. There is a small tea stall just down the road, and we usually take turns going there for a break. We don't really do any advertising or anything like that. People just find us because we are here on the corner. It is just a regular shop where we do our work and go home when the sun goes down. Nothing very exciting happens, but it is a steady life in Bhattarahalli, keeping the shelves full and the floor swept.
