Mahabir Prasad Lalji Kumar has been around for quite a while now. We are tucked away at 6, Cotton Street, which is usually a busy spot. If you know the area, you know how it gets during the middle of the day. We mostly handle things involving the local market trade here. My family has been running this for years, and we just keep things moving along. It isn't a fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just an old building where we get our work done. Most of the people who come here are folks we’ve known for a long time. We don't really do much advertising. People usually just find us because they heard from someone else. It gets pretty loud outside sometimes, but that’s just how it is on Cotton Street. We start early in the morning before it gets too hot. There is always a lot of tea being drunk and people talking over each other. It's a simple operation, really. We keep track of everything in old books and just try to make sure everyone gets what they need. Some days are more chaotic than others, especially when shipments arrive or the traffic gets blocked up. But we like it this way. It’s home for us. If you ever find yourself walking down this part of town, you’ll see our sign. It's nothing special, just a place where we do our business every day.
