Maa Iron-N-Steels

We are right on Gunjur Main Road in Varthur, at number 188. If you are looking for us, we are right across from the Vinayaka Theatre. It’s a very loud spot because of the buses and the people going to catch a movie. We deal mostly in iron and steel, so there is always the sound of metal clanging against metal. It’s heavy work and you have to be careful with your hands. We spend most of our time outside under the shed. The road is always dusty, and the theatre crowd makes parking a bit of a nightmare in the evenings. We’ve been here for a bit now and the locals know us well. We keep our stock piled up high so we can fit more in the small yard. It is mostly iron rods and sheets of metal. When the sun is out, the metal gets too hot to touch without gloves. We don't have a computer for everything; we still do a lot of things by hand in our notebooks. It’s just how we’ve always done it. Sometimes people stop by just to ask for directions because of the theatre landmark. We just point them the right way and get back to moving the steel. It’s a simple life but it keeps us busy from dawn to dusk. We are just a regular shop doing what we can.
