M M Steel is located on D N Road in Jayanagar. If you know Jayanagar, you know it’s a mix of residential spots and busy commercial streets. D N Road gets a fair amount of traffic, especially with the delivery trucks coming through. We spend our time managing the inventory and making sure everything is where it should be. The smell of iron and steel is pretty much part of the furniture here. It’s a bit of a heavy environment, literally speaking. We don't have a lot of frills in our setup. It's just a warehouse and a small desk area where we handle the orders. Most of us have been working here for a long time, so we know the layout by heart. In the afternoons, when the sun hits the front of the building, it gets pretty warm, so we keep the ceiling fans going at full speed. People stop by to ask about sizes or prices, and we just give it to them straight. There’s no big sales pitch here, just honest work. We see the same faces every week, mostly local builders and guys from the neighborhood. It’s a good community. Sometimes the traffic jams outside make it hard to get home on time, but that’s just Jayanagar life. We keep things moving as best as we can. It’s a straightforward business and we like it that way. No need for anything fancy when you're dealing with heavy metal all day long.
