M K S General Stores

Living and working in Varthur has its own rhythm, and M K S General Stores is right in the middle of it on S V Road. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the area, just a place where neighbors can stop in for a bit of salt or a new pen. The traffic on S V Road can be a real headache sometimes, but it brings people to our door. I spend a lot of my time just restocking shelves and checking what we’re running low on. It’s just a regular general store with a bit of dust on the top shelves. We know most of the people who come in by their first names or at least by what they usually buy every week. It feels good to be a part of the local community like that. Sometimes I forget to order something and then I have to tell a regular to come back tomorrow. They don't usually mind, we're all just trying to get through the week. The shop is small and the lighting isn't always the brightest, but it works for us. We keep the doors open late most nights because you never know who might need something last minute for their dinner. It is nothing fancy, just a room full of boxes and basic supplies for the folks living around Varthur. We’ve been here for a while and don't plan on going anywhere soon. It's just home for us and our small business.
