We operate out of the Kumbalgod Industrial Area, specifically at No. 30, A-1 in Phase I. Being in an industrial zone means we are surrounded by other factories and there is always a lot of activity. We focus on alloy steel castings. That involves melting metal and pouring it into molds, which is hot and heavy work. The furnace is the heart of the place and it stays running for long stretches. When it is on, the whole building feels the heat, even in the winter. We have to be very careful with the temperatures and the timing so the metal sets right. It’s not the kind of job where you can sit down much. We have a crew that knows the rhythms of the foundry. Sometimes a casting doesn't come out right and we have to do it all over again, which is frustrating but it is part of the process. The floor is made of sand and dirt in some parts because of the molding process. It is a gritty environment. We don't have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll likely find us covered in soot or wearing heavy gloves and protective gear. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and have seen the industrial area grow around us. We just keep our heads down and focus on the molds and the metal. It’s a tough way to make a living, but it is what we know how to do best.
