Krishna Flour Mills Bangalore Pvt. Ltd. is at No. 19 on Platform Road. This is right in the Okkalipuram area, which is a very crowded and old part of the city. Being near the railway tracks means you can hear the trains passing by at all hours of the day. The building itself is quite old and has high ceilings. We have heavy machinery for grinding the grain, and the whole floor vibrates when they are all turned on at once. It’s a very noisy place to work, but we are used to it by now. The air is always thick with the smell of raw flour and wheat. We have large wooden platforms where we stack the finished bags before they go out. The windows are high up and covered in a layer of fine white dust. There’s a small area near the entrance where we talk to the delivery drivers. The traffic on Platform Road is usually a mess, so we have to be careful when the trucks are backing in. Okkalipuram is full of small businesses like ours, so there is a lot of life around here. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. You just walk in through the main gate and you are right in the middle of the work. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s the nature of a flour mill in a big city like Bangalore. We’ve been operating from this same spot for many years.
