Kirthy Chicken Stall

Kirthy Chicken Stall is right by the Halasuru New Court Building Athwalines 72/1. We are up way before the sun to get the stock in. The morning air is usually cool when we start setting up the blocks and sharpening the knives. It is a noisy place once the market gets going. We spend the whole day cutting and weighing meat for the people who live nearby or the ones working in the court building. The floor gets washed down many times a day to keep it clean. We have some regular customers who want their chicken cut in a very specific way for their curries at home. We just do what they ask. There is no air conditioning, just the ceiling fans spinning fast to keep the flies away and the air moving. We use a lot of plastic bags and newspaper for wrapping. It’s hard work on the arms and back, standing there for ten hours. Sometimes the delivery guys bring more than we have room for, so we have to move things around. By the afternoon, the crowd thins out and we can sit on our stools for a bit. We don't have a big sign or anything, people just know we are here because we've been at this spot for years. It’s a basic stall with honest work going on every single day. We just try to keep things moving and get the orders done.
