Kashimer Emporium

Kashimer Emporium is in Shivaji Nagar at 23/2 in A P Nira C P S House. It is a place filled with the smell of different fabrics and old wood. We have stacks of goods piled high on the shelves. Sometimes it feels like they might fall over if you pull the wrong one. We have been in this neighborhood for many years. It is a local spot where people know us. We don’t have any fancy lights or big displays in the window. The stuff we have speaks for itself when you touch it. We spend a lot of time unfolding things for people and then folding them back up again. It is a slow kind of work. The shop can get quite crowded on certain days and very quiet on others. We just sit on the stools and wait for the next person to come through the door. There isn’t a big team here. Just a few of us who have been doing this for a long time. We know the history of the pieces we sell but we don’t make a big deal about it. Shivaji Nagar is a lively area and there is always something happening outside the door. We like being part of the street life here. It is just a simple business in an old building where we do things the way they have always been done.
