Kamalesh Provision Stores is right here in Basaveshwara Nagar at 1768/21. It’s the kind of place where the shelves are packed tight with everything from lentils to soap. I know where every single item is, even if it looks like a bit of a mess to someone else. The smell of the store is a mix of spices and laundry detergent. Early in the morning, the milk delivery arrives, and that’s when the first customers show up. They usually want their daily items and maybe a bit of a chat before they start their day. I use a small metal scoop for the grains, and the sound it makes hitting the scale is something I’ve heard thousands of times.
