The shop is right on the Madivala Beml Main Road, which means there is almost always dust coming in from the street. We keep K G N Furnitures & Hardware open pretty early because that’s when the contractors and the local guys start moving around. If you walk in, you’ll probably smell the wood or the metal oil first. We have things stacked up high because the space isn't huge. Sometimes it's hard to find a specific hinge or a handle right away, but we usually know which corner it’s tucked into. It gets loud with the traffic outside, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home towards Madiwala. We don’t have a big showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a practical place where people come when they need a specific piece of hardware or a sturdy chair. My hands are usually a bit dirty from moving stuff around all day. We spend a lot of time moving heavy items to make room for new stock arriving on the trucks. Sometimes we sit on the stools near the entrance just to catch a bit of breeze. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors know us by name. It isn't a fancy business, just a place where we sell what people need for their houses. We keep the ledger on a small desk in the back. It’s a bit messy, but we get the work done and that is what matters to us at the end of the day.
