Jevan Rekha

Jevan Rekha is situated in Lalbagh, very close to the railway station. Being near the station means there is always a lot of noise and people moving about. It’s a fast-paced spot but we’ve grown to like the energy of it. We aren't a big institution with lots of floors and elevators. We are just a local place trying to be useful to the folks who live and travel through here. The office is quite basic. We have the furniture we need and not much else. Most of our time is spent talking to people who walk in off the street or who heard about us from a neighbor. Because we are in Lalbagh, we get all sorts of visitors. It’s not always easy keeping things organized with the constant flow of people, but we do our best. We don't use a lot of big words or try to act like we're more important than we are. We just provide what we have and hope it helps. Sometimes the trains are so loud we have to pause our conversations, which is just part of being in this location. It’s a very practical place. We don’t have any decorations or fancy rugs. It’s just a room near the tracks where we do our work every day and try to stay on top of everything that comes our way without making it too complicated for anyone involved.
