About Janardhana General Store – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
Our shop is at number 676 on 61st Cross in Rajajinagar, Bangalore. It’s a pretty standard general store for this part of the city. We sell things like rice, lentils, cooking oil, and those small packets of biscuits kids like. 61st Cross is mostly quiet, which is nice compared to the main roads. We have been here for a while, and the wooden shelves have started to warp a bit under the weight of the jars. We don't have a computer or anything, we just write things down or remember the prices. The morning is usually the busiest time when everyone is rushing to get milk. In the afternoon, it gets a bit slow, and we might sit and read the newspaper for a bit. We know most of the people who live in the surrounding houses. They come in to get a kilo of sugar or maybe some washing powder. We keep the big sacks of grain on the floor near the entrance. The shop doesn't have a lot of fancy lights, just a couple of tube lights that flicker sometimes. It’s a simple setup and we like it that way. We don't try to compete with the big supermarkets. We just offer what we have at the prices we can afford to give. It’s a steady way to spend the day in Rajajinagar. Sometimes the neighbors bring us snacks and we talk about the local news while they shop.
