Jai Tulsi Telecom

Commercial Street is always a mess of people and noise, but our spot at 10th Cross is a little different. Jai Tulsi Telecom is right there on the 3rd B Main Road, tucked into the 1st Block. Being at number 18 means we see a lot of foot traffic, but mostly it’s folks looking to fix a cracked screen or get a new charger because they lost theirs again. The shop is narrow, so we have to be careful about where we put everything. I keep the cables hanging on the wall so they don't get tangled. There’s a stool in the back where I sit when there aren't any customers. Sometimes the power goes out for a few minutes and we just wait it out. I’ve lived around here long enough to know most of the other shopkeepers. We nod to each other in the mornings when we’re rolling up the shutters. The floor is tile and it’s hard to keep clean with everyone walking in from the dusty street, but I try my best with a broom every few hours. It’s a lot of small talk about battery life and signal strength. You hear the same questions every day, but that’s just how it goes. I like the way the street sounds when it’s raining. Everything slows down for a bit. Then the sun comes back out and it’s busy all over again.
