You will find Jai Maruthi Cane Furniture over at 50/1 JP Nagar. We are near the Saraki Gate in the 2nd Phase, right on Kanakapura Main Roa. It is a busy stretch of road, but you cannot miss our shop because of the chairs and swings sitting out front. We work mostly with cane and bamboo. It is a lot of manual work, bending the wood and weaving the seats by hand. You can usually smell the varnish when you walk in. The workshop is right there, so you might see someone hammering or sanding while you look around. It is a bit messy with wood shavings on the floor, but that is just how it is when you are making things. We have all sorts of stuff like sofas, dining tables, and those hanging egg chairs that kids like. Cane lasts a long time if you take care of it, and we try to make sure everything we put out is sturdy. We do not have a fancy air-conditioned showroom. It is just a big open space where we keep the finished pieces. People stop by while they are driving down Kanakapura Road because they see something they like in the window. We are just a small team of craftsmen. We do not do much advertising; we just let the furniture speak for itself. It is nice to see a piece go from a raw stick of cane to a finished chair.
