Jai Bharath Iron & Steel Company

We are located at 1206 in Vijaya Nagar, specifically on 12th Cross near Magadi Main Road. It’s part of the MC Layout in AD Halli. Jai Bharath Iron & Steel Company is basically a big warehouse filled with metal rods and sheets. It’s very heavy work, so we’re always moving things with the crane or by hand if they’re small enough. The floor is concrete and has a lot of scratches from all the steel being dragged across it. We have a small area in the corner where we sit to eat lunch and handle the bills. It’s not a place for a suit and tie. Most of us are in old t-shirts and jeans because of the grease and rust. The street outside is usually blocked by someone unloading, but the neighbors don't mind too much. We’ve known the people on this block for a long time. We don't do much in the way of marketing. People just know we have the stock and they come by when they need something for a construction project. The gate squeaks when you open it, and we keep saying we’ll oil it, but we never do. The metal gets very cold in the winter and burning hot in the summer, so we have to use thick gloves all year round. We have a small calendar on the wall that’s usually a month behind because we forget to flip the page. There’s a lot of noise from the Magadi Main Road traffic that drifts in, but you get used to it.
