Indian Provision Store

Indian Provision Store is located on Krishnarajendra road. It’s a busy street and we’ve been here for a long time. The shop is full of big bags of rice, lentils, and all the basic things people need for their kitchens. It smells like spices and earth in here, which is a smell we’ve grown to love over the years. We don't have a fancy computer system for the inventory; we just keep track of things in our heads and on a few pieces of paper. The wooden counter is worn smooth from all the years of people leaning on it while they wait for their orders to be weighed out. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here on KR Road and they come in when they run out of salt or sugar. The morning rush can be a bit much sometimes when everyone wants their provisions at the same time. We just keep moving and filling the bags as fast as we can. It’s a simple way to make a living. We see the same faces every week, and we know who likes which kind of tea or which brand of soap. There is no corporate polish here, just some dusty shelves and a scale that has seen a lot of use. We close the doors when the sun goes down and the street gets a bit quieter. It is just how we do things.
