We are located right at 32 Shivaji Nagar. If you find the Bharat Petrol Bunk, you are basically here. Hubli Furniture has been around this neighborhood for a long time. Our shop is full of wood and the smell of polish. It’s a bit dusty because we are always cutting or sanding something. We don't have a shiny showroom with bright lights and air conditioning. It’s more of a workshop where things actually get made. There are stacks of planks in the corner and tools spread out over the workbenches. We often have tea with the guys from the petrol bunk next door. The traffic in Shivaji Nagar can be loud but we just turn up the radio. We make chairs, tables, and cupboards for people living around here. Sometimes a drawer doesn't slide perfectly on the first try so we have to fix it. We don't use those fancy computer machines. We just use our hands and our eyes. People come to us because they want something solid that won't break in a week. We aren't trying to be a big chain store. We just like working with wood and seeing a finished piece go out the door. It’s a simple life and the work is hard on the back but we don't mind. We just keep the saws running and try to stay busy. It keeps us out of trouble.
