Our office, simply called Hr, is sitting at 42, 3rd Cross in Krishnamurthy Layout. We are right off Tavarekere Main Road in Bangalore. It’s a small place, mostly just a front room where people wait and a back area where we keep all the files. We spend our time looking through resumes and talking to folks who are looking for work in the city. It gets pretty busy in the mornings when people drop by to hand in their papers. We don't have a big HR department like the companies we help; we are just the ones doing the legwork. The room can get a bit stuffy when there are four or five people waiting, so we usually keep the door propped open. There’s a small shop across the street where we get our stationery and snacks. We try to be helpful to everyone who walks in, even if we don't always have a job for them right away. It’s a lot of talking and a lot of typing. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so it’s relatively quiet compared to the main road. We’ve got some old metal cabinets that are overflowing with folders from years of doing this. It’s not a fancy operation, but it’s honest. We just try to match the right person with the right spot without making things too complicated. That’s pretty much our whole day here and we keep at it every day.
