Hmt Machine Tools Ltd is based in Bangalore at 45/1 Ratnavilasa Road. The building is called Sumeru and it is right in the Basavanagudi area. That is 560004 for the mail. Basavanagudi is a nice part of town with a lot of history. Our office in Sumeru is where we handle the machine tool business. It is a bit of an older building but it has character. The road outside can get quite busy with traffic especially in the mornings. We have got a lot of desks and some storage for parts and manuals. It is not a shiny new corporate office. It feels more like a place where people actually work. We have got calendars on the walls and stacks of papers on most surfaces. Sometimes the lift in the building is a bit slow so we end up taking the stairs. It is a good way to stay active I suppose. We get visitors from all over the place coming to talk about tools and machinery. The atmosphere is generally quite serious but we have our laughs too. Ratnavilasa Road is a familiar spot for many people in Bangalore. We like being here because it is easy for people to find us. The space is filled with the sound of phones ringing and people discussing technical specs. It is just a regular day-to-day operation for us. We try to keep things moving along even when the Bangalore weather makes us feel a bit lazy.
