Sadar Patrappa Road is always a sea of people. Our shop, Hindustan Telecom, is in Sihra Market on Link Road 4. It’s Shop No 1, right in the thick of it at Street Number 2. It’s a tiny space, honestly. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling packed with cables, chargers, and phone parts. If you move too fast, you might knock something over. We’ve been here since the market was much smaller. Now, it’s just constant noise and people pushing past. We do repairs and sell bits and pieces. People come here when they can’t find a specific cable anywhere else. We usually have it buried somewhere in a drawer. It’s not a fancy showroom. There are no bright lights or displays. Just a counter and a lot of stock. My son helps me out on the weekends. We drink tea from the guy who walks around with the metal kettle. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use flashlights to finish a repair. That’s just life in the market. We don't do any advertising. People find us because they know this market is where you go for electronics. We just try to be fair and get the gadgets working again. It’s a hectic way to spend a day, but we like the energy of the crowd and seeing the same faces every morning when we open up the shutters.
