If you head down Dr Rajkumar Road in Rajaji Nagar, you’ll find us at 186/86/2. Hindustan Radiator Works has been sitting in this spot for years, and the walls are pretty much soaked in grease and old coolant by now. It’s a noisy business, mostly because we are right on the main road and there’s always someone honking. We handle radiators for all kinds of vehicles, though lately, it’s a lot of older models that people are trying to keep on the road. The work is messy and my hands are never really clean, no matter how much soap I use at the end of the shift. We spend hours soldering leaks and cleaning out the gunk that builds up. It gets really hot in the back of the shop, especially during the summer months when every car seems to be overheating at once. We don't have a waiting room or anything fancy like the big showrooms do. Most customers just stand around or go get a coffee nearby while we pull the parts out. I’ve got a couple of boys helping me who know their way around an engine pretty well. We just take the jobs as they come, one radiator at a time. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from morning until we pull the shutters down late at night. The neighborhood has changed, but engines still get hot, so we still have plenty to do here.
