Heeralal Chaganlal Tank

If you find yourself in the middle of Johari Bazar, you know how crowded and tight the lanes can be. Our place, Heeralal Chaganlal Tank, is tucked away in M.S.B. Ka Rasta at Jai-III/H-02, number 2333. It’s an old building that has been in the family for a long time. To get to us, you have to navigate through the sea of people, scooters, and tourists that fill the bazar every single day. The office itself is small and the walls are lined with old wooden cabinets. We don’t have any fancy glass displays or bright neon signs. We usually sit on cushions on the floor or at very small desks that have been here for decades. There is always a pot of tea being shared and the sound of the market coming through the windows. It’s a very traditional way of doing things. We spend our hours looking at stones and talking to people who have been coming to this Rasta for generations. The lighting isn't great, but we know every corner of this room. We don't use any modern marketing tricks; people find us because they know where we have always been. Sometimes the monsoon rains flood the narrow street outside, and we just watch the water go by from the doorstep. It’s a slow, steady kind of life in Johari Bazar, and we wouldn't really know how to do it any other way.
