Hast Kala is tucked away in S.R. Layout, just off Wind Tunnel Road at number 6. It’s a bit of a quiet spot, which is nice for the kind of work we do. We deal with a lot of traditional items, and the space reflects that. It’s not a modern glass office; it’s more of a lived-in workshop. There are usually pieces of fabric or handcrafted items spread out on the tables. We have a few people who sit and work on things by hand throughout the day. It’s slow work, but that’s the way it has to be. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so it feels very different from the city center. We get the occasional visitor who found us by word of mouth. We don’t have any big sales pitches. We just show people what we have and let them decide. The back room is where we store most of the raw materials. It smells a bit like wood and old cloth back there. We’ve been at this location for years and have seen the area grow up around us. It’s a comfortable place for us. We drink a lot of coffee and talk about the work while we’re doing it. It’s a simple life here in the layout, and we like the peace and quiet. We're usually here from nine until the sun starts to go down and the birds get noisy.
