Hana Fusion Flowers

Our shop is at No.32 in Hatworks Boulevard on Cunningham Road. We are right next to the Getit building. It is a nice little spot tucked away from the main road noise. Every morning the delivery trucks bring in fresh flowers. We spend a lot of time cutting stems and pulling off dead leaves. Our hands usually have a few small scratches from the rose thorns. It’s not as glamorous as people think. There is a lot of wet floor and green waste that needs to be hauled out to the bins. We have buckets of water lined up everywhere. People come in looking for something for a birthday or maybe just to put on their table at home. We don't have a book of standard designs. We just grab what looks good and tie it together with some string or ribbon. The shop smells like a mix of lilies and damp earth. Cunningham Road is always busy, but inside Hatworks Boulevard it feels a bit more relaxed. We have a small workbench where we do all the arranging. Sometimes we get a big order for a wedding and the whole place gets buried in petals. We keep a radio playing in the background to keep us moving. It’s a simple business. We just try to keep the flowers hydrated and the customers satisfied. The hours are long but being around plants all day isn't a bad way to live. We just keep trimming.
