About Gujarat & Rajasthan Handicrafts – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
We are up on the first floor of the PU Building. It’s right near Mayo Hall, which most folks know if they live around here. If you’re coming from Old Madras Road or the 11th Cross in the 1st stage, it’s a pretty easy walk. This part of Mahatma Gandhi Road is always moving. I’ve spent a lot of time here at Gujarat & Rajasthan Handicrafts just sorting through things and keeping the shelves tidy. Being on the first floor means it’s a bit quieter than the street level, which is nice when the traffic gets heavy downstairs. There is a lot of history in this neighborhood, and you can feel it when you walk past Mayo Hall. We spend most of our hours just keeping the place running. It’s not a huge setup, but it’s ours. Sometimes we get people wandering in who are just lost, and we point them back to the main road. The light comes in through the windows in the afternoon and hits everything just right. We usually have a lot on our plates, so the day goes by fast. It’s just a small team of us here. We don’t really go in for anything flashy. We just open the doors, do the work, and close up when the street lights come on. It feels good to be part of this community for so long. The location near Mahatma Gandhi Road keeps us right in the middle of things.
