Gatti Handicrafts is a small shop located at number 8 on Margosa Road in Malleshwaram. If you know the area, you know it’s famous for its old trees and the smell of flowers. Our shop isn't very large, and it’s packed with all sorts of items we’ve collected over time. It can be a bit overwhelming when you first walk in because there’s stuff on every shelf and even hanging from the ceiling. We don't really have a professional decorator. We just put things where they fit. I spend a lot of my day dusting the items, which is a never-ending job in this city. My family has been in this area for a long time. We like the pace of Malleshwaram. It’s a bit slower than the rest of Bangalore. People often stop by while they are out for their evening walk. We don't try to push people to buy anything. They can just look around if they want. Sometimes the shop gets a bit cramped when more than four people are inside. We have an old fan that makes a lot of noise, but it keeps the air moving. The floor is made of old stone, and it stays cool even when it’s hot outside. We aren't looking to become a big chain. We just like having our little spot on Margosa Road. It’s a simple way to spend the day, surrounded by things made by hand.
