G K Gas Welding Works

If you head down Magadi Road towards the Yadavanahalli Gate in Anekal, you’ll find our workshop at number 12. It’s G K Gas Welding Works. You’ll probably see the sparks flying before you even see the sign. We spend most of our time behind welding masks, joining metal parts together for all sorts of local projects. It’s hot work, especially during the summer months when the sun beats down on the shop roof. We have gas cylinders lined up along the wall and benches that have seen a lot of use over the years. This isn't a clean place; there’s soot and metal dust on everything. But that’s what happens when you’re doing real welding work. We help out farmers with their equipment and local builders who need something custom-made. Sometimes a guy will just show up with a broken chair or a gate that’s fallen apart, and we fix it while he waits. We don't have a secretary to take messages, so you just have to shout to get someone's attention over the sound of the torches. It’s a simple operation. We buy our supplies locally and we know most of our customers by name. The shop is a bit of a landmark for people driving through the gate area. We’ve been here long enough that people just know us as the place to go for any metal work. It’s a steady job.
