We've been over here at New Guddadahalli for a good while. It's just a regular spot in the Surjit Society on India Colony Road. Most people know us because we're pretty close to the Chocolate Bus Stand. We spend our days working with wood and tools. There is usually a lot of sawdust around. It’s not a fancy showroom, just a space where we get things done. Sometimes the traffic outside gets loud, but we're used to it. We open up early and stay until the work is finished. People stop by to ask about tables or cupboards for their homes. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us. The shop is at number 15/1. If you're coming from the main road, you'll find us easily. It gets hot, but we keep the fans going. We don’t do advertising. Most folks see the sign or hear about us from a neighbor. We just try to make things that last. It’s a simple living. We like being part of this neighborhood. The tea shop nearby is where we take our breaks. It's just a normal furniture place doing normal work. We have different kinds of wood stacked up, like teak and plywood. The smell of varnish gets strong when we finish a wardrobe. We’ve seen the neighborhood change, but we’ve stayed here. People hop off the bus and walk over in a few minutes. We don’t have a website. We rely on the strength of the things we build. If a chair is sturdy, people tell their cousins. That is how we operate. It is dusty and loud, but it is home. We make furniture one piece at a time.
