Fouzia Paying Guest is basically a large house that we’ve set up for people to stay in. It’s not a hotel, so don't expect a lobby or a bellboy. It’s just rooms with beds and some cupboards for your things. We spend a lot of our time making sure the water is running and the kitchen is getting the meals ready on time. The street outside is a typical narrow Bangalore lane, so it can get a bit tight if a car tries to go through. We have a mix of people staying here, mostly youngsters who have moved to the city for work. It gets quite noisy during breakfast and dinner when everyone is in the common area. We try to keep the place clean, but with so many people coming in and out, there is always a bit of a mess to tidy up. We don't have a big corporate management team. It’s just us making sure everyone has a key and knows the rules about the gate. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to figure out the backup, or someone loses their towel. It’s just daily life in a shared house. We’ve lived in this neighborhood for a long time, so we know where to get the best groceries nearby. It’s a simple, honest place to sleep.
