Fabrics & Accessories Trade Show

Setting up at the Palace Ground in Bangalore is always a bit of a whirlwind. If you’ve ever been to Palace Road, you know how huge that space is. For the Fabrics & Accessories Trade Show, we usually end up spending more time on our feet than sitting down. The dates for this one were back in June 2009, and man, those were some long days. When you’re dealing with hundreds of rolls of fabric and tiny accessories, things get cluttered really fast. We spent most of our time lugging boxes around and trying to make sure the displays didn't fall over. Bangalore weather can be unpredictable, but inside the venue, it was mostly just the smell of new textiles and the sound of people talking. It wasn't some polished, perfect event like you see in brochures; it was messy, loud, and very busy. We had people coming in from all over, asking questions about thread counts and buttons while we were still trying to find where we put the stapler. It’s the kind of work where you go home with sore shoulders and dusty clothes, but you feel like you actually did something. The Palace Ground itself is a beautiful backdrop, even if we were too busy with the trade show logistics to really stop and look at it much. Just a lot of people, a lot of cloth, and a lot of work to get through.
