Eshwari Rice Traders

Eshwari Rice Traders is over in Sanjay Nagar 6 & 7. We’ve got a lot of space, but it’s mostly filled with stacks of sacks. The smell of raw rice is very strong when you first walk in, sort of earthy and dry. We spend a lot of our time hauling these big 25 and 50 kilo bags around. It’s definitely a job for your muscles. Dust from the grain gets on everything, so we’re always sneezing or dusting off the ledges. The floors are concrete and they get scuffed up from the dollies we use to move the heavy loads. We have a small desk near the front where we keep the ledger, but mostly we’re on our feet. Customers come in looking for specific types, and we have to remember where each stack is. Sanjay Nagar is a nice area, but our shop is strictly about the work. We don't have air conditioning or fancy chairs. Just the rice and the scales. Sometimes a bag rips and we have to sweep up the mess, which is a pain. It’s a very repetitive job, just loading and unloading trucks and helping people carry stuff to their cars or scooters. We’ve been at 6 & 7 for a while now and it feels like home, even with all the heavy lifting. We just keep the bags stacked high and wait for the next customer to walk in.
