E. Arumugam Achari & Sons

We are over at No. 15 on 24th Cross in Cubbon pet. It’s very close to Avenue Road, which is always packed with people and all kinds of shops. Our family business, E. Arumugam Achari & Sons, has been around for generations. We’ve stayed in this same spot because it’s where our roots are and where people expect to find us. The shop is old and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s got a lot of character and history. We do traditional work, mostly by hand using tools that have been in the family for years. My sons work alongside me now, learning the trade just like I did from my father when I was young. Cubbon pet is a maze of small streets and alleys, but we like it here. It feels like home to us. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy neon sign. Most of our work comes from families who have been coming to us for decades. We take our time with each job to make sure it’s done the way it should be done. It’s not a fast-paced environment here. We like to sit and have a coffee while we discuss a project with a customer. The noise from Avenue Road is always in the background, but inside the shop, it’s a bit quieter. We aren't looking to expand into a giant corporation. We just want to keep the family craft going and serve our neighbors.
