Docks Dollar Shop

Our place is called Docks Dollar Shop, and you’ll find us at 91/1 Rangaswamy Temple Street, right off BVK Iyengar Road. The name might sound like those shops abroad, but we’re a local business through and through. We carry a whole variety of items, mostly small household things and knick-knacks that people find useful. The street outside is always packed with people and vehicles, so it can be a bit of a squeeze to get through sometimes. We keep the doors open all day to let in whatever breeze we can get. Inside, the aisles are narrow because we try to put out as much as possible for people to see. It’s a bit of a jumble, but most of our customers enjoy looking through the shelves to see what’s new. We get new stock in quite often, so the shop floor is always changing. It’s just a few of us working here, trying to keep the dust off the products and helping people find what they’re looking for. We don’t have any grand plans, just keeping the shop running and making sure we have things that people actually want to buy. The area around Rangaswamy Temple Street has a lot of history, and we feel like a small part of that daily life. It’s a lot of standing and talking to people, but it’s what we know. It keeps us busy.
