Divya Jyothi Hindu Military Hotel

We are located in Sunkadakatte. It’s a military hotel, which means we focus on meat dishes and hearty meals for people who are hungry. We don't have a big fancy sign or a lot of lights outside. Most people around this part of Bangalore just know where we are by now. The kitchen starts very early because the meat needs a lot of time to cook until it is tender. It gets pretty hot and smoky in the back, but that’s just how you get the flavor right. We’ve been in Sunkadakatte for a long time. The neighborhood is mostly working-class people who just want a good, solid meal after a long shift. We don't use any pre-made powders; we grind our own spices every day. It's a lot of manual work and my hands usually smell like garlic and spices. The seating is just simple benches and tables where you might have to sit next to someone you don't know. We don't have air conditioning, just a few old fans that spin all day long. When it’s lunch time, the place gets packed and noisy. People don't come here to sit and talk for hours; they come to eat and then get back to their jobs. We try to keep the food coming out fast. Sometimes the floor gets a bit messy when we are in a rush, but we clean it up eventually. It’s just honest food.
